Funny Man & Banjo Picker Steve Martin Joins us on KRLD Updated with AUDIO

This morning at 9:30, Mitch Carr and I had have the pleasure of speaking with Steve Martin on KRLD.  You can listen live here.  He’s promoting his new bluegrass album.  Mitch passes along this info:

Martin’s album features collaborations with Paul McCartney, The Dixie Chicks, and bluegrass band The Steep Canyon Rangers.

The album, entitled “Rare Bird Alert,” was produced by Tony Trischka and released on the Rounder Record label. It features a total of 13 tracks, 9 of which are original songs written by Martin.   The 65-year-old actor, comedian, writer, playwright, producer, and musician says Lorne Michaels, creator and producer of Saturday Night Live, was the one who encouraged him to collaborate with other artists on the album, specifically the song he recorded with McCartney.

More info on the album at Martin’s website.
