A quick break from politics here to let you know that one of my great friends and colleagues, Roger Emrich, is going to be the new stadium announcer for the Dallas Cowboys when the new NFL season begins.
Roger has a long and storied career in Texas radio, including 4 years as the Austin Bureau Chief for the Texas State Networks, from 89-93. So, maybe I lied by saying this was a break from politics.
One of the stories he told me recently was that Gov. Ann Richards differed to him during a news conference when a member of the national media asked if OU would ever get a home game in the annual Red River Shootout. After she did, the national reporters swarmed around Roger for a comment.
Super cool that the news of his new gig came on his birthday. Roger talked with Mitch Carr about it on KRLD today:
