Texas Republicans Leary of Naming a Presidential Favorite

A good story from Aman Batheja in the Star-Telegram today points out that most GOP office-holders in Texas are reluctant to say which of the candidates for president they prefer.  

The story says Craig James, the former ESPN analyst running for US Senate, supports Rick Santorum.  But the others in the race, including Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst haven’t chosen a candidate. 

The fact that Mitt Romney seems to be on track to win the nomination poses a potential problem for candidates who want to sell themselves to voters as “conservative” for several reasons, including the universal health care law Romney signed as governor of Massachusetts.
