House Republican Deputy Whip Kevin Brady, R-The Woodlands, took the time to chat with me this morning about the challenge of putting together enough votes to pass Speaker Boehner’s debt bill.
In the last 24 hours, he’s been in many of the meetings with individual conservative GOP lawmakers who have either been very reluctant or completely opposed to their leader’s plan. Brady admits this has been very difficult, but he thinks a bill will pass. I also pressed him on what might happen to the fragile economic recovery if there is a default.

Yeah, I couldn’t just let him off the hook about a default by saying “It ain’t gonna happen.” But, Brady insists it won’t.
